Chance Encounter is an evolution of the “Phalanx shields” styles and mediums of John Vassar House (JVH) since the latter are now actually sliding while trying to align rather than defending. Interestingly, the second name given to the sculpture is “His and Hers shields”. 

A limited edition of 5 Chances were cast. A small model named Little Chance was cast the year later on specific request.
