The Pod Seed Pod  by John Vassar House is the largest of the 24 Organic Pod sculptures made. It was on display at the Galleria L’ Attico exhibit in Rome in 1962.

G. C. Argan states that “What matters more is the ambiguous existence of the symbol, at once idea and phenomenon, because the phenomenon is born of the obscurity of the symbol. Thus, all sense of the plastic form is conveyed by its ambivalence, by its being at the same time external and internal, a diaphragm between full light and closed shadow. Making that ultimate form as sensitive as a vital tissue – as vital as human skin or as the bark of a tree — is the end quest of this sculptor.”
