In this phase animal movement strongly attracted John Vassar House (JVH) for his abstract/representational early sculpture approaches. The sculptures listed in this page are all welded steel, sometimes welded with cadmium. The animals usually chosen are fish, flying fish, medusas, panthers, leopards, sea horses, horses, colts, birds and these sculptures are of varying sizes and moving poses. Most of the sculptures of this period do not have owner nor photo records.

The predilection for large and rapacious birds will be evident in John Vassar House’s (JVH) career as a sculptor. In year 1978 and 1980 other representational sculptures of eagles will compete with ospreys and hawks as well as with winged powers and water sprites.
